About me

My name is Ava, my pronouns are they/she, and I'm a queer, neurodivergent and disabled nerd based in England.

If you'd like me to be more precise, I'm a grey-bisexual, panromantic and polyamarous demigirlflux person. I feel that the sexuality I experience is probably closest to aegosexual, but I don't think I entirely fit within any acespec sub-category. I also identify as transgender, nonbinary and genderqueer.

I speak several languages to various degrees, and there's a couple more I'd like to learn at some point.

I'm fairly good at HTML, my CSS abilities are manageable, and I'll scream if I have to see another javascript file in the rest of my life, which I probably will.

I enjoy science fiction, with a side of comedy. If you've seen me around the web, you'll know I'm a big fan of Star Trek, Doctor Who and Red Dwarf. You'll also have possibly seen me mention the occasional other show, even then, you probably don't know half of the things I'm interested in, because I don't put everything out there on the internet.

My interests cycle a lot and this is not predictable at all. Not even by me.

Politics and beliefs

I do not really align myself with any one political party. I have previously voted for Green, Lib Dem, and Labour. This is not necessarily out of agreeance with the politics of my local representatives, but definitely out of disagreeance with the politics of the Tory party.

Reform and abolish prisons. Reform, defund, and dismantle the police and military.

Decriminalise drugs. Give addicts the support they need. Do not prevent addicts getting support for other problems (which often lead to addiction) before they get support for their addiction.

I do not support the actions of the Israeli government, nor do I align myself with antizionists. Too often have I seen left-wing antisemites defend their actions with 'it's really antizionism', and I'm also not sure you all know what zionism is.

I am accepting of all queer identities, disabilities, and system origins. I would love to say that I am accepting of all religions, too, but I am unfortunately very aware of the existence of certain types of Christianity which exist purely to try and convert others to Christianity, and I do not accept any denomination that does that.

Proselytising as an athiest is as bad as proselytising as a religious person. Neither are good.

I believe the age of consent should simultaneously be lowered to either 13 or 14, with a two or three year 'limit' until 18, to both protect young sexually active teenagers (do not deny that they exist, I knew people who were active at about those ages) by providing them legal means of accessing contraceptives without risk of prosecution, and to protect young teenagers from being exploited by adults.

Fiction affects reality. This is true. Some of you do not know what that means and misuse it, constantly. Writing a scene in which something happens does not necessarily mean support of it. Look at the way it is written, and make sure this is via the authorial voice, not the character voice. On occasions where an author is actually supportive of something they shouldn't be, respond to it sensibly.

Further to that, I am not a 'proship'/'anti anti' (the last of which is a fucking stupid term) or an 'anti' (again, a stupid term.) One side is all 'Anything slightly iffy at all is wrong and bad' and the other is 'It doesn't matter if someone thinks an adult and a child can be together it's fine it's fiction'. I do however know that some people who identify with either side are not at those extremes, so don't send me 'X is a proshipper/antishipper' and expect me to block them just cause.

Also who among us hasn't seriously seen anti shipper's send 'X is a proshipper' to people when X isn't a proshipper?

If you are a minor accessing clearly signposted adult spaces and you complain about any of my works you find there, the only response you will get is how to set up parental controls because you clearly need them. Unless I somehow know your parents, in which case I'll be informing them that they need to set up parental controls on your device instead.

I do not believe that the AO3 should be defunded and if you do you need to learn your fandom history. I'm not just talking the FF.Net purge, sudden disappearances of several archives, strikethrough, boldthrough, and attempt to monetise fanworks that led up to AO3's creation, but also the 2018 Tumblr purge, which is proof that such purges will continue to happen when we don't own the servers, and will largely impact queer people and content. And apparently some of you need to know how hard it is to make and distribute zines in person.

YKINMKATO, SALS, DLDR - Your kink is not my kink and that's OK, ship and let ship, don't like don't read. Use filter systems to avoid stuff you don't like, either due to triggers or squicks.

Boundaries

As a queer Brit, I am going to block anyone who sticks hard and fast to age of consent as moral judgement or believes it should be raised, especially if you name 21 as the age it should be. If you know why, you know why. If you don't, google is free, and the search term you're looking for is 'UK age of consent reform'.

Do not refer to my gender as 'NB' or any variation. I am not an acronym.

On that note, do not refer to me as 'LGBTQ' or any variation. You may refer to me as a 'member of the LGBTQ community' or any variation, but I prefer queer.

You will also be blocked for tagging anything I make as 'q slur'. I am queer in gender and orientation.

If you are a minor and send me anything sexual, I will block you. Please keep that to private accounts, with access limited, at minimum, to people you know are around your own age.

This is a less hard boundary, but if I post something about my life anywhere, do not bring in American laws, culture, geography/climate or local companies and businesses, unless you are using them to compare our experiences, or are a friend of mine. I have heard 'You could report that because American law', 'Just buy from business you don't have', 'sounds fake doesn't happen in America', etc way too often.
